Go look in your garbage can

The majority of most family garbage cans is food packaging and/or food waste.  Most recyclable materials are sorted out for pick up, and families that compost do not have much food waste in the garbage can.  So most of the "garbage" is packaging that can't be recycled or composted.

By shopping local or buying a CSA share reduces the amount of packaging and reduces the amount of garbage of recycling.
